Watermelon Fruit Plant

The watermelon plant is a sprawling, vining plant that belongs to the cucumber family. It grows on the ground, spreading its long, trailing stems. The plant has large, broad, and rough leaves with a deep green color. It produces yellow flowers, which are usually unisex (male and female) and need pollination to produce fruit. Watermelons grow on the vine, starting as small green buds and growing into large, round or oval fruits. The fruits have a thick, smooth outer rind that can be green with dark stripes or solid. Inside, they have juicy, sweet, red or pink flesh, filled with black or white seeds. Watermelons thrive in warm, sunny climates and need a lot of space to spread out. They require well-drained soil, plenty of water, and are typically grown during the summer season. The plant’s fruit is a popular, refreshing treat, especially in hot weather.
