Dragon Fruit Plant

The dragon fruit plant, also known as pitaya, is a type of cactus that grows on a climbing vine. It has long, flat, green stems with spiny edges and can spread across large areas, often requiring support like trellises. The plant blooms large, white, fragrant flowers at night, which are called "queen of the night" because they only open after sunset. After pollination, the plant produces the fruit, which is oval-shaped with a bright, leathery skin that can be pink, yellow, or red. Inside, the fruit has white or red flesh speckled with tiny black seeds. Dragon fruit plants prefer warm climates and need plenty of sunlight and well-drained soil to grow. They are relatively easy to care for, needing regular watering but not excessive moisture. The fruit is known for its mildly sweet taste and is often eaten fresh or used in smoothies, salads, and desserts.
