Papaya Leaf Extract

Papaya leaves and their extracts are sold as dietary supplements to improve the immune system and increase platelet counts. Lab studies showed that papaya leaf extracts have antibacterial effects. A few clinical studies found benefits of papaya leaf extract in treating dengue fever and in increasing platelet counts. Papaya leaves are medium to large in size, averaging 50-70 centimeters in diameter and 18-90 centimeters in length, and are broad, flat, and deeply, palmately lobed. The rough, green leaves are thin, pliable, and have prominent yellow veining spreading throughout the 5-9 lobes. Papaya leaves contain many nutrients and plant compounds with anti-inflammatory properties.
