Skullcap Extract

Skullcap is Native American plant, the dried leaves and stems of which are used as an herbal medication and in teas to treat anxiety, stress and insomnia. Skullcap has been linked to several instances of clinically apparent liver injury, but usually in combination with other botanicals. American skullcap derives its name from the caplike appearance of the outer whorl of its small blue or purple flowers. It is a slender, heavily-branched plant that grows to a height of 2 to 4 feet and blooms each July. It grows wild in woods and meadows. A skull cap, also known as a kippah, yarmulke, or taqiyah, is a small, round hat that is worn on the head by some religious people.
