Basil Oil is a free-flowing, aromatic oil, with lesser viscosity than water. It is pale yellow to brown in color. It has a distinct aroma from the freshly crushed shoots of the basil plant.Basil Essential Oil emits a warm, sweet, freshly floral and crisply herbaceous scent that is further characterized as airy, vibrant, uplifting, and reminiscent of the scent of licorice. In aromatherapy, Sweet Basil Essential Oil is reputed to stimulate, clarify, calm, fortify, energize and uplift the mind. Its odor is sweet-spicy, slightly green, fresh, with a faint balsamic-woody undertone and a lasting sweetness. It is produced in very limited quantities (annual world production is less than one metric ton), and the oil ranks among the more expensive essential oils.
