How to Set Quantity and Units in a TradesFolks RFQ
Ambiguous quantity is a common cause of weak quotations. Use a unit that matches how the product is normally traded.
Choose the unit
- Use pieces for countable items when appropriate.
- Use kg, tonnes, litres, metres, square metres, cartons, containers or another commercial unit when it better describes the purchase.
- Keep unit and quantity consistent with the specification.
Quantity ranges
- If demand is not final, state an estimated range in the description.
- Ask for quantity-break pricing when purchase volume may vary.
Repeat purchases
- Use buying frequency to explain whether demand is one-time, monthly, quarterly or ongoing.
- Separate trial quantity from expected regular volume.
Frequently asked questions
Can I enter an estimated quantity?

Why does buying frequency matter?
