Green coffee extract is an extract of unroasted, green coffee beans. It is used in the Swiss water process for decaffeinating coffee. GCE bean extract is comprised of unroasted coffee beans and contains higher amounts of bioactive phytochemicals than that for the usual roasted coffee that is generally consumed (Esquivel and Jiménez, 2012; From: Phytomedicine, 2019. Green coffee bean extract is a supplement (extract) made of coffee beans that have not yet been roasted. “The difference between roasted and unroasted coffee beans is the presence of chlorogenic acid, which is only present in raw beans,” Czerwony explains. “Once it's heated, that chlorogenic acid is destroyed.”
