Rotary torque sensors are used to measure the torsion forces being applied onto a rotating shaft. Generally speaking, it is installed between driving and driven shaft. Rotary torque sensor can be mounted directly with a rotating shaft. Rotary torque sensors measure torque by being coupled between an object and what it is imparting torque to. Inside the torque sensor, a shaft covered with strain gauges rotates. These strain gauges measure the torque transmitted through the shaft. Rotary torque sensors are used for strain measurement, testing of clutch and gearboxes, and dynamic torque within the engine.
