Orchis Mascula Extract

Orchid is commonly called early purple orchid or early spring orchid. It is a species of flowering plant which belongs to family Orchidaceae. It is the second largest of varieties after the sunflower family. Notably, this botanical extract contains a high level of Vitamin C, which is responsible for its powerful brightening effect on the skin. Studies have shown that topical application of Orchid Extract leads to improved appearance of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. The genus name Orchis means 'testacles', a reference to the twin tubers of orchids in this genus. The specific epithet mascula means 'masculine' and refers to the form of the underground tubers. The preliminary phytochemical screening showed that the crude extract of Orchis mascula contained alkaloids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, terpenes, sterols and flavonoids(9).
