Neem Oil

Neem oil is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from the neem tree. It is yellow to brown, has a bitter taste, and a garlic/sulfur smell. It has been used for hundreds of years to control pests and diseases. Components of neem oil can be found in many products today. Neem preparations are reportedly efficacious against a variety of skin diseases, septic sores, and infected burns. The leaves, applied in the form of poultices or decoctions, are also recommended for boils, ulcers, and eczema. The oil is used for skin diseases such as scrofula, indolent ulcers, and ringworm. Neem oil, as a traditional medical remedy, is used as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, insect repellent, and treatment of skin diseases. Traditional routes of administration of Neem extracts included oral, vaginal, and topical use.
