Neem Cake is the de-oiled residue that can be used after Neem kernels are crushed for their oil. In this seed kernel are nutrients like NPK (nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium) as well as nortriterpenoids and isoprenoids. These nutrients are nematicidal in nature so the seed cake ends up with these properties. Neem cake is an organic manure. Neem Cake is an by - product of Neem seed oil production.It has more nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium,calcium and magnesium than the farmyard manure.It is rich in sulphur compound as well as bitter limonoids. The seed cake is rich in plant nutrients (crude protein 13–18%; carbohydrate 24–50%; crude fiber 8–26%; fat 2–13%; ash 5–18%; and acid insoluble ash 1–17%, with nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, and magnesium) and is used as manure for soil amendment and for urea coating (Puri, 1999).
