Rayon, also called viscose and commercialised in some countries as sabra silk or cactus silk, is a semi-synthetic fiber, made from natural sources of regenerated cellulose, such as wood and related agricultural products. It has the same molecular structure as cellulose. Rayon fiber is a manufactured fiber composed of 100% regenerated cellulose, or regenerated cellulose in which chemical substituents have replaced not more than 15% of the hydrogens of the hydroxyl groups. Rayon fiber is soft, comfortable and versatile. In the textile sector, rayon is used to make apparel such as sarees, shirts, dresses, and socks. Employed to create blankets, bed sheets, and other textiles. Employed in carpet production.
