Winter Cap

A knit cap is a piece of knitted headwear designed to provide warmth in cold weather. It usually has a simple tapered shape, although more elaborate variants exist. Historically made of wool, it is now often made of synthetic fibers. Since about the early 1990's the term beanie began being used widely and erroneously to describe the basic knitted cap, or “winter hat”, as the asker calls it. To many people younger than 50, the beanie and the knitted winter cap are exactly the same thing. Beanies, although they should be made from wool in our opinion, a Beanie can be made from all kinds of materials. On the other hand a Toboggan hat is, and can only be, a knitted wool winter hat.
