The Soxhlet extraction apparatus is a laboratory tool used for the extraction of compounds from solid samples. Consisting of a flask, condenser, and extraction chamber, it operates through a continuous extraction process. The solid sample is placed in a porous thimble within the extraction chamber, and a solvent is repeatedly cycled through the system. As the solvent vaporizes and condenses, it dissolves the desired compounds from the sample. The condensed solvent then drips back into the extraction chamber, where it continues to extract the target compounds until saturation is achieved.
