Platform scales are used in many industries, wherever their sturdy construction and high capacity is useful. They're often required in manufacturing and business settings to weigh bulky items such as containers or pallets, or to count a very high amount of smaller pieces such as screws, bolts or mechanised parts. All platform scales have certain basic components, which include load cells and strain gauges, a platter or deck, platform base, and indicators. Mechanical (or analog) platform scales don't require electricity to work. Generally, these scales are supported on each corner by a bearing, which rests on a set of pivots. The pivots are supported by a single understructure device which, in turn, is supported with another lever system.
