Product overview
An on-grid solar power plant, also known as a grid-tied solar system, is designed to generate electricity using photovoltaic (PV) panels and feed this energy directly into the utility grid. These systems do not require batteries, as they operate in conjunction with the existing power grid. Excess energy generated by the solar panels is sent to the grid, often earning credits through net metering policies, which allow homeowners or businesses to offset the cost of power drawn from the utility. This type of installation is cost-effective due to its simplicity and the ability to use the grid as a virtual battery. However, it does rely on the grid for operation and will not provide power during outages unless equipped with a grid-interactive system that includes battery backup. On-grid systems are popular for reducing electricity bills and lessening environmental impact.
