Additionally, it acts as a reducing agent in various chemical processes and as a flocculating agent in water treatment to precipitate contaminants. While beneficial, ferrous sulfate ingestion in excessive amounts can cause toxicity symptoms such as gastrointestinal distress and organ damage.
