It is soluble in water and ethanol, and slightly soluble in acetone. Copper acetate is primarily used as a catalyst and in chemical synthesis, particularly in organic reactions where it facilitates processes such as the Wacker oxidation of alkenes to ketones. It is also employed in the production of various dyes, pigments, and pharmaceutical intermediates. In agriculture, copper acetate is utilized as a fungicide to control fungal diseases on crops, providing protection against mildews and other plant pathogens. Due to its potential environmental and health hazards, careful handling and disposal practices are necessary when using copper acetate in industrial and agricultural applications.
