In a wastewater treatment plant, the clarifier is essential for separating suspended solids from liquid. It consists of a **clarifier tank**, a large, shallow basin where water slows to allow solids to settle. **Inlet structures** introduce influent flow, while **outlet structures** permit the exit of clarified water. A **sludge removal system**, often including scrapers or rakes, collects and moves settled sludge to a **sludge hopper** for further treatment or disposal. The **overflow weir** at the top of the tank ensures the even exit of treated water. Together, these components effectively enhance water quality by removing particulate matter, preparing it for subsequent treatment stages.
