Assam Tea

Assam Tea has a rich, deep amber colour and is famous for its rich, full-bodied cup. It is known for its brisk, strong and malty character, making it a perfect tea to wake up to. Black teas like Assam contain several unique plant compounds, including theaflavins, thearubigins, and catechins, which function as antioxidants in your body and may play a role in disease prevention ( 1 , 4 ). Your body naturally produces highly reactive chemicals called free radicals. Assam tea has an almost caramel sweetness to it. Undeniably strong, it can be both malty and spicy. Even the colour is a striking deep red. Its rich fruitiness makes Assam a truly comforting drink. The Assam tea plant is indigenous to Assam—initial efforts to plant the Chinese varieties in Assam soil did not succeed.
