Plastic sprockets are commonly used as an alternative to metal sprockets in power transmission and roller chain applications. Manufactured from cast oil filled nylon, they offer a wide range of benefits over traditional metal counterparts such as self lubricating properties and a reduced coefficient of friction. Sprockets can be either a solid-type body or cast with spokes. They also may be split into two halves to facilitate easy access during maintenance activities. Fabricated Sprockets can be fabricated from machined parts such as hubs, webs, and rings.
