Alappuzha is traditionally well known for coir related businesses. In ancient Kerala the word Aleppey is coined as the finest place for coir trades. Its geographical features support coir industry well. People earn their daily bread from the coir industry. Ousa international started their business more than 120 years ago. It sprouted as a village production unit named "Chaprayil", founded by Mr. late Ouseph.
